Tour details

Sarawak first marine national park, Talang - Satang was establish with the primary aim of conserving Sarawak's marine turtle population which covers total land approximately 19,400 hectares. This is Sarawak Sea Turtle Volunteer Program (3D2N) as a unique eco-tourism initiative run by Sarawak Forestry.

Note: Accommodation and facilities are very basic. Everyone is expected to help each other in cooking and cleaning the area after use. 

Day 1: 1000hrs - Pick up from the hotel and depart towards to Sematan town. Lunch at a local coffee shop. Depart by boat to Talang-Talang National Park. Upon arrival at the island, proceed for a welcomg briefing by Park warden then check into accommodation. Dinner. Proceed to turtle watch. Overnight. (Lunch/Dinner)

Day 2: Full day conservation work with Turtle Management Team. Overnight. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Day 3: After breakfast and check out. Proceed for final briefing by Turtle Management Team before departing back to Sematan town. Lunch at a local coffee shop. Continue journey back to Kuching and transfer to the hotel. (Breakfast/Lunch)

Duties & activities in the island;

  1. Beach patrol to locate if any turtles arrival
  2. Transfer turtle eggs into the hatchery
  3. Data records and on-site conservation
  4. Releasing of hatching
  5. Nest analysis in monitoring turtle nesting activities
  6. Tagging and measuring sea turtle

What to bring/wear;

  • Light comfortable clothes (quick dry) / long or short pants
  • Insect repellent / sunblock lotion / hat or cap / sunglasses
  • Sandals or flip flops / swim wear
  • Torchlight / disposable ponchos / towel / personal toiletries / personal medication / extra tissue or toilet paper
  • Bring extra snacks as there is no canteen or shop at the island
  • Small aterproof bag to keep your mobile phone/camera dry
  • A waterproof bag for overnight trip / plastic bag to put in all dirty wet clothes inside

Remark;

  • After completion, a certificate from Sarawak Forestry will be given to the participate whom join the program.
  • This program only available from month of May till September.
  • PLEASE avoid bringing heavy luggage as there is no jetty or storage at the island

This program is available from month of May - September. Slot for year 2024 is for you to select which is suitable so that we can check for the availability and confirmation. This tour requires maximum of 6 people to go.
